JANUARY 25
- FEAST DAY OF
- ST. GREGORY THE THEOLOGIAN
|
While studying in Greece, St. Gregory became close friends with St. Basil the Great. Gregory became a priest and his sermons were so good, he came to be called Gregory the Theologian. He was elected Patriarch of Constantinople but did not remain Patriarch too long because he preferred to retire and write books, religious poems and Church hymns.
When St. Gregory died, he left a treasury of writings, hymns, poems, etc.., which we use in our Church during the calendar year.
