JANUARY 22
- FEAST DAY OF
- ST. TIMOTHY
|
The name TIMOTHY comes from the Greek words TIMi and THEOS one who honors God. (Timi means honor and Theos means God.)
Timothy became a devoted Christian at a very young age and accompanied St. Paul on his journeys throughout the world. St. Paul installed Timothy as a very young man as Bishop of Ephesus. The pagans of Ephesus resented Timothy and brought about great persecutions to the Christians in the area. During a wild and weird pagan ritual, the Christian Community was attacked and St. Timothy was stoned in front of his Church.
St. Paul wrote this of St Timothy:
+ "Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity".
We offer these wonderful words of Christian advice to all our YOUTH TODAY.
